Tilak and Nandani - Ooty

Walking to the main road to catch a taxi who's late arriving.  This is the lane where we live.

This is Carolyn bitching that the taxi is 40 minutes late and why doesn't Gopal call and harrass the driver.

We arrive at the Ooty Lake, ready for a boat ride.  (Carolyn is now smiling.)
Everybody in these two boats knew each other, and they were having so much fun bumping their boats against each other.

Many improvements had taken place since we'd been there, apparently for the Ooty Flower Show.  We ate on this new deck.  It was really nice, right by the water.

Then on to the Botanical Garden, which we love.

The trees here are really wonderful.  So many varieties and so large and mature.  This may be the Monterey Cypress of all things.

This is a Monterey Cypress.

The sun was extremely hot that day, and this photo pretty much shows how we were feeling as we made our way back to the entrance.

On the way home, the driver pulled over at this view point.

We had a truly wonderful day.  We had been to the Botanical Garden and to the Boat House many times, but this time was particularly special.

How nice of you! I'm sure the level of development in Ooty (if you can call it that) was disturbing to you. We live in Coonoor and really love it here. Nice of you to write.

We have a friend at Tantea who took us to Bakasuramalai, Droog. Although we were able to drive most of the way, we still climbed a long way up the hill. Gopal and I are in our sixties, so it was challenging but very satisfying, except that everything was socked in by fog! Couldn't see a thing at the top.
