Guests

Aatreyee, in blue, her husband BC in yellow, and Krishna in beige are cooking dinner for us.  Thought I would show you, because it is unusual for us to have so many people and unusual to have so many good cooks working together in the kitchen.  Wonderful experience.

Pink saree

Since I rarely wear a saree, I thought I'd show you this picture.  My friend Sara Hanif helped me put it together for a  luncheon meeting of the University Womens Association at the Gymkhana Club.

Botanical Garden, Ooty

Near Shriya's new home in Udamandalam (Ooty) is the wonderful Botanical Garden
As you'll see, Gopal took all the pictures.  I managed to have a low blood sugar along the way, which really takes a lot out of me.  But it was really a fun venture.

Shriya's father, Vijay, walked us to the top of the hill where there is a tribal enclave.  Here is a tiny herd of buffalo.

This guy didn't like Gopal getting so close to take a picture and charged us.  Scared the heck out of me.

Right there is a small, traditional tribal temple.  It was really magical.

Newly identified bird in the garden

This is a Crimson-Backed Sunbird.  The reason it took so long to identify it is because he's a tiny little person, my eyes aren't that great any more, and they move quickly.  But today, I was able to watch him for a while.  Yay!

They don't have hummingbirds here.  This is the closest thing.   This one is about 8 cm long.  Jumps quickly from flower to flower.

Shaggy dog died in an accident

My very special dog friend, Shaggy, was hit by a truck and was killed.  My heart is broken.  Time will heal it over.

Sai Baba bhajans downstairs

Last night Sheila and Chandran downstairs hosted bhajans.

In the video, Sheila stands up to welcome two friends.  I'm sitting behind  her, of course.

this is a life-size picture of Sai Baba, whom they consider a god.

Feeding the ravens

So, at the other end of the walkway, we are feeding ravens, sparrows and bulbuls.  That's a dish of cooked rice.

Ravens on our tv dish.

I think this is a baby.
